Kathmandu. ACC Premier Cup third place match between Oman and Kuwait has been canceled due to bad weather. According to the rules of the competition, the team Oman, which is ahead in the ICC rankings, has third place won.
Oman has secured a place in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup. The top three teams in the Premier Cup will play in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup. The finalist teams Nepal and UAE have already secured their place in this tournament to be held in July. The venue of the competition has not been decided yet.
Chasing a target of 131 runs, Oman scored 41 runs without loss in 6 overs, but the match for third place was stopped due to rain. Even though the rain stopped after 3 pm, the game was canceled as the field became waterlogged.
Before that, Kuwait, who lost the toss and batted first, made a total of 130 runs after losing all the wickets in 31.3 overs.
Oman’s Jai Odedra took 5 wickets for 14 runs in 5.3 overs to cover Kuwait cheaply. Vilal Khan took 2 wickets. Kuwaiti opener Adan Idris scored 34 runs and Syed Moniv added 28 runs.
Earlier, the semi-final match between Kuwait and Nepal was canceled due to rain. Based on the performance of the group stage, Nepal reached the final, while Kuwait had to play a playoff for the third place. Nepal entered the final as the winner of Group A and Kuwait as the runner-up of Group B.
Nepal and UAE will face each other on Monday for the title of the tournament. The winner of this match will play in the group consisting of India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup cricket to be held in September.
