Reuters. The company has confirmed that the flydubai plane flying from Kathmandu to Dubai was hit by a bird during take-off. The company said that even though there was a loud noise when it came out, it is now heading towards the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement given to Reuters by the spokesperson of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, Jagannath Niraula, it is mentioned that the engine of the Flydubai Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 167 passengers caught fire and the fire has been brought under control.
“FlyDubai flight number 576, (Boeing 737-800) from Kathmandu to Dubai is now normal and is proceeding towards its destination Dubai as per the flight plan,” the Civil Aviation Authority said in a tweet.
A flydubai spokesman told Reuters that the plane was scheduled to land in Dubai at 00:14 Dubai local time.
