Delhi Aug 1. Following Kerala in India, severe rains in Himachal Pradesh have caused floods and landslides. In Shimla and neighboring Himachal Pradesh areas, there have been at least fifty reported missing persons. Floods have affected Jaon, Kullu, Niramand, Sarpara, and other locations.
Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, provided this information via social media. According to government minister Jagat Singh, there have been 36 reported missing persons in the Shimla district’s Sarpara village alone.
The Malana hydroelectric dam in the Kullu region has crumbled. Communication is hampered because the road is also ruined. In Niramand, more than 25 dirt bridges and four concrete bridges have collapsed. In places hit by floods and slides, search and rescue efforts are still underway. Meanwhile, severe rains on Wednesday night have also caused floods and landslides in Uttarakhand, India, including the well-known sacred locations of Kedarnath and Rudraprayag. Everyone has been urged by the authorities not to visit Kedarnath. The route that leads to Bhimbali, Sonprayag, and other locations is blocked. Roads that have been closed because to landslides containing huge stones are being worked on.
Due to road closures, some 200 pilgrims are compelled to stay in motels in Bhimbali. Travelers who have arrived at Rudraprayag have been asked by the police to remain there safely.
