Kathmandu. Nepal has made three changes in the starting 11 of the title clash against Jordan under the WAF Women’s Championship. The final will start at 9:45 PM Nepali time at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah. Savitra Bhandari, Anita Casey, Anita Basnet, who returned to France, have been left out of the team that will play against Lebanon today.
In their place, Deepa Shahi, Rashmi Kumari Ghising and Savita Rana Magar have been included in the team. Nepal and Jordan are the two undefeated teams in the ongoing tournament. Jordan, who is also a former winner, is a 5-time WAF champion. Nepal got the chance to play this tournament for the first time.
In the semi-final held on Tuesday, Nepal defeated Lebanon 2-1 and Jordan defeated Palestine 5-0 to confirm their meeting with each other. Both teams won all 3 matches in the group stage. Jordan’s journey to the final was easy. Nepal, who progressed easily in the group stage, had to face a tough challenge from Lebanon in the semi-finals. Nepal came close to the title by overturning the 1-0 deficit.
Jordan is higher than Nepal in FIFA rankings. In women’s football rankings, Nepal is 155th and Jordan is 74th. In WAF, Nepal scored 15 goals and conceded 2 goals in 4 matches, while Jordan conceded 1 goal while scoring 13 goals.
